Why Professional Waxing Makes a Difference

There's a significant gap between home waxing and professional waxing. Temperature control, product quality, technique, and skin preparation all affect both the result and how your skin responds afterwards. Done professionally, waxing removes hair from the root cleanly — which means a slower regrowth, finer hair over time with regular treatments, and skin that feels smooth rather than irritated.

At Umdlalo Wellness Spa, we use warm wax and strip wax appropriate to each treatment area, applied and removed in a way that minimises discomfort and reduces the risk of ingrown hairs and post-wax irritation. The environment matters too — a clean, calm treatment room is a different experience to a rushed appointment elsewhere.

Waxing Treatments Available

Facial Waxing

Upper lip, chin, eyebrows, and full face options. Facial hair removal keeps make-up sitting better, gives skin a cleaner appearance, and takes minutes. Eyebrow shaping is one of the fastest ways to change how your face looks — we shape to your natural brow, not a trend.

Body Waxing

Legs (half or full), underarms, arms, and back. Full leg waxing typically takes 30 to 40 minutes; underarms take under 10. Regular appointments every four to six weeks mean regrowth comes back finer and sparser over time.

Bikini Waxing

Standard bikini line, Brazilian, and Hollywood options available. We understand this is a treatment that requires trust, and we approach it with the same professionalism and discretion as any other. If it's your first time, tell us — we'll talk you through exactly what to expect before we start.

"Regular waxing doesn't just remove hair — over time, it changes the hair itself. Finer, slower, sparser. The results compound with every appointment."

How to Prepare for Your Waxing Appointment

A little preparation makes a noticeable difference to both the result and your comfort:

Aftercare: How to Look After Skin Post-Waxing

The 24 to 48 hours after waxing are when your skin is most vulnerable. A few simple rules make the difference between smooth skin and irritation:

How Often Should You Wax?

Most people find a four to six week schedule works well for body waxing. Facial waxing — particularly upper lip and eyebrows — typically needs attention every three to four weeks. The more consistent you are with your waxing schedule, the finer and slower the regrowth becomes, and the easier each appointment gets.

If you're combining waxing with other treatments — a massage, facial, or lash appointment — we can often schedule them in the same visit. Waxing is best done before other treatments, not after, to avoid applying products to freshly sensitised skin.
