One of the things we do well for group bookings is flexible treatment scheduling. Not everyone in the group needs the same thing — one guest may want a deep tissue massage, another a facial, another a manicure and pedicure. We coordinate the timings so the group finishes together (or close to it), without anyone having to sit and wait.

This flexibility makes the day feel tailored rather than formulaic. Everyone gets what they actually need, not just what's assigned to them.

The bride's treatment

For the bride herself, we'd typically suggest starting with a facial — particularly if the wedding is within a few weeks. A good skin treatment will have a visible effect that builds over the following days, so timing the facial close to the wedding makes sense. A massage beforehand puts the skin in an ideal receptive state, with circulation elevated and the body relaxed. Combine the two and you have the ideal pre-wedding treatment flow.

After treatments — the grounds and the garden

There's no rush to leave after your sessions. The lodge gardens are yours to enjoy. Zizi's Restaurant, Umdlalo Lodge's on-site restaurant and bar, is next door — the group can settle in for lunch, drinks, or both. It turns a spa morning into a full day without anyone needing to organise transport between venues.

Practical Planning for a Group Spa Day

How far in advance should you book?

For groups of four or more, we recommend booking at least two to three weeks ahead. This gives us time to schedule therapists appropriately and ensure everyone's preferred treatments are available on the same day. For peak weekends — school holidays, festive season, long weekends — book earlier. The South Coast fills up, and spa availability follows the same pattern as accommodation.

How many guests can we accommodate?

Do we need to coordinate treatments in advance?

It helps. When you enquire, let us know the approximate number of guests and what kind of treatments people are interested in. We'll put together a suggested schedule and come back to you with confirmed availability. It doesn't need to be final — but having a starting point makes the planning straightforward on both sides.
